Fundraising Opportunities

The Walton High School Band is a large, active and very successful music program. Unfortunately, only a portion of the funding required to sustain such a program from year to year is provided by the county. We are responsible for the remainder. Therefore, fundraising is a critical function to the continued success and operation of our outstanding program. 

Parent participation in fundraising is crucial. We depend on parent volunteers in a variety of ways. From chairing an event to supplying baked goods, we ask that you get involved in whatever way you can. It may be a sacrifice, but the rewards are tremendous.  

Most of our fundraising activities allow for student participation. This enables the student to earn credit for their Student Account.

  Walton Band Golf Challenge

Following the same model as the most successful charity tournaments in the country, this will be the most significant fundraising event for the band. All parents and students of the Walton High School Band as well as residents and businesses in our community are the key to success. Our goal is to raise 25% of the band's annual operating expenses.   Taste of East Cobb & Festival
Taste of East Cobb is an annual community festival that is a band fundraiser in disguise!  Held the first Saturday in May, the event features not only “tastes” from the best of the area’s restaurants…but also includes vendor/artist booths, live jazz music, a silent auction, a bake sale, children’s activities, and more!

Volunteer opportunities are available for every interest and schedule – from serving on the planning committee that organizes the details of the event…to selling tickets or drinks on the day of the festival itself.  For additional information on the most recent Taste of East Cobb, visit


The SCRIP Program provides an easy way to raise money:  all you need to do is buy Gift Cards (a.k.a. “SCRIP”) to use at the places where you already shop.   For each card that you purchase, the Band receives an instant “rebate” (the amount varies by retailer) and ½ of the rebate is credited to your student’s Band Account – which can be used toward his/her Band expenses!

Rock-A-Thon is our largest and most lucrative annual fundraiser.  Each year we publish a business directory featuring local area businesses that the students have sold advertisements to. In turn, these businesses receive a certificate of sponsorship and directory for their advertisement. Band families are asked to patronize these businesses which support our band.


Rock-A-Thon is a very popular fundraiser with the students as well. Not only is it the best way to earn credit for their Student Account, but they also get to go to the all-night lock-in party (after qualifying, of course) hosted by WBOP!


  Fruit Sale

This fundraiser is held each year during the month of November. Students sell quality citrus fruit provided by Indian River Groves. This fundraiser is an excellent opportunity for students to earn credit for their Student Accounts.

  Garage Sale
Next to Rock-A-Thon, Garage Sale is our most profitable. It is also our longest running, having just completed our 15th annual Garage Sale. Throughout the year, we stay busy collecting items to sell at the event.  This giant sale is eagerly anticipated by the community each year. Garage Sale is also our most labor-intensive fundraiser. 100% participation of our band families is essential to its success.

  Spring Concert
Each spring the Walton gym is transformed for the Band's Spring Concert with a Chastain Park style appeal. This special fundraising event features performances by each of the four Walton Concert and Symphonic Bands, as well as the Walton Jazz Bands. Reserved tables and lunches are available for purchase to enjoy while listening to our very talented students.
